Performance “SANDMEN, dreaming in/of Europe”
9, 10, 11 & 20/10, 19:30 - 21:00
Mια performance σε δημόσιο χώρο, σε σύλληψη και σκηνοθεσία του σκηνοθέτη και ηθοποιού Θωμά Βελισσάρη και δραματουργικη επεξεργασία της θεατρολόγου Γιάννας Τσόκου, με στόχο την καταγραφή και αναπαράσταση των οραμάτων και των ονείρων των κατοίκων της Ευρώπης σήμερα. Τι θα ήθελαν για την Ευρώπη; Τι οραματίζονται για αυτήν και μέσα σε αυτήν; και εν τέλει τι όνειρα βλέπουν ως Ευρωπαίοι πολίτες στην εποχή της μετά-Ευρώπης;
Το “SANDMEN, dreaming in/of Europe” βασίζεται αρχικά στην φόρμα μιας «τυπικής» παράστασης – performance δρόμου. Frans Timmerman και από την Lilly Marlen στον David Bowie). A performance in public space, perceived and directed by the actor and director Thomas Velissaris which the dramaturgical processing of the theatrologist Yianna Tsokou, aiming to record and represent the visions and dreams of the residents of Europe today. What would they want for Europe? What do they envision for it and within it? And ultimately what kind of dreams do they have as European citizens in the era of Post-Europe?
"SANDMEN, dreaming in / of Europe" is based initially on the form of a "typical" street performance. A modern clown (in the form of Joseph Beuys) aggregates the passers-by around him with a performance, in which he uses “speeches” of European politicians (and not only), mounted with music and songs from the European continent, following an almost linear chronological order (from Churchill’s speech about the situation in Europe in the 1940's up to modern speeches in the European parliament – for example Frans Timmerman and from Lilly Marlen to David Bowie). The “speeches” and the songs are functioning as a trigger for the “clown” to reveal his own vision for Europe and his own dream in Europe, in order to encourage the public – passing by people, or more familiar spectators of this performance – to confess in public their own. The performance uses two of the tools of the LABattoir project: the public exhibition of the visions and dreams of passers-by is recorded by the mobile studio of Media Lab, and the free space (FREIRAUM)- which is required in order for the passing-by people to share their dreams- is created inside the framework that the Freevolous city stage outlines. The final material will be presented in the network of the FREIRAUM program, aiming in the coming months to gather visions and dreams of citizens from other cities of the network.
